That's enough, Nickelback.

Glad to know I'm not the only person who feels this way. And what the s**t is that "love, love, love" song? Pretty sure I was just making fun of it earlier today.

There's nothing to it

I spent most of my Saturday morning before Ryan and Katie's wedding watching Senator Teddy Kennedy's memorial service from the night before. Each speaker gave a wonderful account of their time and relationship with Teddy. But I have to say, former Senator John Culver (D-Iowa) gave the best "laugh-until-your-stomach-hurts" speech. Seriously hilarious! A great way to memorialize Teddy. Watch part one and two above.

Ahh the pride...

Boston University, my dear alma mater, has been ranked among America's top colleges...AGAIN. To be honest, it's really not surprising. Who, you may ask, ranked BU as a top American university? Forbes? No, don't be silly. Newsweek? Of course not. U.S. News & World Report? HA! Absurd! Why, it was GQ, of course.

And the honor bestowed upon BU???

One of America's 25 DOUCHIEST colleges.

Here's GQ's little breakdown of a BU:
Home of: The Future Marketing Executives of America Douche
Most likely to: Major in communications and take it seriously.
Overheard at the "Winning in a Down Time: How to Brand Yourself" seminar aftermingle: "CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!"
Thesis topic: "Those Axe Ads: Totally Funny, Bro."

Hmmm....funny. Well, if the shoe fits...right?

"The Greatest Senator Of Our Time"

Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, a son of one of the most storied families in American politics, a man who knew triumph and tragedy in near-equal measure and who will be remembered as one of the most effective lawmakers in the history of the Senate, died late Tuesday night..... He reluctantly and at times awkwardly carried the Kennedy standard, with all it implied and all it required. And yet, some scholars contend, he may have proved himself the most worthy...."He was the survivor,” Mr. Ornstein continued. “He was not a shining star that burned brightly and faded away. He had a long, steady glow. When you survey the impact of the Kennedys on American life and politics and policy, he will end up by far being the most significant.

- John M. Broder, the New York Times

Update: Watch the Red Sox's tribute to Kennedy last night here.

I am training for The Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon. It's going well but now that summer is finally here it's gotten harder to have a good, solid run (aka it's hot as shit and I hate treadmills).

Running in the morning is humid. Running mid-day is stupid. Running at night is just as muggy as the morning but harder to breathe. I can't win. So I googled "how to stay cool when running in the summer heat" and here are some ideas/suggestions that I found:
  • Try to do your runs early in the morning or late in the evening when the sun is out of the sky.

  • Stick to shady places like the woods, or breezy areas such as near the ocean or a lake.

  • Make sure you hydrate before you head out and bring water with you to drink and pour on your body to help cool you off.
I admit these suggestions are pretty good but they're also totally obvious. I try to stick early morning runs (late evening is less likely to happen), I try to run on the waterfront in the North End or by The Charles and for long runs, I always bring a water bottle. I have also read that running with wet hair also keeps you cool during the summer months.

I haven't found the perfect solution yet so if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments.

Happy running!

Hot Child In The City

OK, I'm back. I know, I know...you missed me terribly. Well I can't promise that it won't happen again but let me assure you...I had one kick@$$ weekend.

A quick recap...engagement celebration, PLUM, roofdeck, grayhounds, bar, sleep, David's Bagels, Union Square, mani & pedi, Forev, bridal magazines, Mets game, Shake Shack (yum!), another roofdeck, din at Barbounia (so yum!), wine, sleep, noon train back to The Bean with Brendan Fraser.

All in all, a stellar trip!

P.S. Congrats Steph & Justin!!! I love you both.

Hi folks,

I'm taking off for the weekend (NYC! What?! What?!), and even though I haven't been very diligent about blogging lately, I didn't want to leave you hanging. So here are some talking points for this weekend:

  • Health care reform

  • Hilary Clinton's visit to Africa

  • Michael Vick

  • Facebook's acquisition of FriendFeed

  • Apple Tablet's release date

  • Quoting The Hangover

Discuss amongst yourselves...

Check ya later.

Baby, you can drive my car...

I saw a Beatle last night. It was incredible. Hands down the best concert I have ever gone to. Here's the setlist...minus a few. The last two songs were my additions...wishful thinking, if you will. I would have died if he played them.
